Agro Products: The North Eastern region comprises of 8 States of Arunchal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim. Excluding Sikkim, the region covers an area of 2,55,000 sq. kms representing around 7.8 per cent of the total area of the country.
The region is a distinct geographical entity connected with the rest of the country through a narrow corridor in North Bengal thereby standing out as a classic example of cultural and geographical isolation from the other composite States of India. The region shares 98 per cent of its borders with other South East Asian Countries viz Bhutan and China in the North, Myanmar in the East and Bangladesh in the South and West. Different types and castes of people live there who speak different languages. Their religions and cultures are also different.
